This is a five-minute lightning talk.
Many datasets are going improperly documented because their creators do not know about suitable metadata standards, or are too daunted to use them. The RDA Metadata Standards Catalog is an easy reference resource that tackles both these issues. In future it will also serve as a resource for people studying metadata standards and writing converters between them. One step towards this vision is the development of the RDA Recommended Metadata Element Set, a set of priority elements to consider when comparing multiple metadata standards.
